iPhone: great gadget, sucks as a phone?

iphone sucks as a phone

The thought, unfortunately, came into mind, the iPhone seems to suck as a phone. Just saying that makes me upset because I love the iPhone . It's true that coverage is partly to blame but I don't think it's all coverage. I did notice with turning 3G off, I am getting less dropped calls. I just hope the phone part gets better!

No problems whatsoever. With calls or anything else, 3G is pretty solid in S. FLA.

I guess you're right, it depends on where you live. That actually makes me feel a little better because at least I know the iPhone doesn't suck as a phone because of its design. I still do love my iphone even though. Thanks everyone, signing off now.

I feel that as a phone the iPhone is mediocre at best. However, once you add in all of the other capabilities, it makes for the best single device available for my needs. There's no magic here, this device is a series of compromises and trade-offs just like most electronic devices.

Had to chime in but I must get decent reception where I live because I can hear people very well in spite of traffic which is amazing to me since I'm hearing impaired. So, it's not only a great gadget but one of the best phones I've ever owned due to this. So, I can't complain about the phone function but then again, I don't use it too much so there's my two cents.

Oh, and for the record, I live in the Phoenix area.

Mine works just great. Only one dropped call since I bought it, call quality is great, great reception too.
