I predict that the next iPhone will adopt the same aluminum backing as the iPad. We first saw this with the 24" LED Monitors, then the iMac itself, and I reckon that the iPhone, iPod Touch and maybe even iPad Nano are next.

I Photoshopped the iPad to make this iPhone. My predictions/wishlist:

    • It'll run OS 4.0, obviously
    • Larger (possibly 3.7"?) 16:9 screen
    • Aluminium back (as pictured)
    • Higher resolution camera
    • Front camera for video calls
    Fingers crossed!

I love the back, if they make it look like a mini iPad I'll buy it in an instant. The only thing you listed that I disagree with is the 16:9 screen. 16:9 would be great for video, but suck for everything else. In the Engadget review of the JooJoo, one of the things they complained about was how the 16:9 screen was too wide for webpages in landscape, and too skinny in portrait. I think the ratio they've got now is just perfect, and if they double the resolution I'll be a happy camper.

    Exactly.

16:9 is a nice format. It works well for TVs and laptops.

But people keep forgetting that 9:16 is a terrible format for just about everything. I don't think we'll ever see a 16:9 format on any device you can rotate.

    Will never happen.
Goes against everything Apple has ever done or said in the past (and would kill the battery and open it up to crashes)

they also said multitasking kills the battery, but looks like theres good chance of that coming. didnt jobs also say people don't read anymore, then they end up launching iBookStore and the iPad.. but i don't think we'll see flash either.

    Agreed.

If they went out of their way to NOT have it on the ipad, why would Apple all of a sudden decide to put flash? Same goes with people wishing for removeable battery. Apple started putting non removeable batteries in all their laptops so they can fit bigger batteries in there, why would they all of a sudden put removeable. I know there are wish lists and there are wish lists. But lets all use some basic common sense here.

The only upgrades that are REALISTIC are higher screen res, MAYBE 3.7" screen, but nothing bigger. extremely minor exterior changes (why change a winning formula?) higher res camera probably without led flash, and very limited multitasking and OS4. Thats about it.

I must laugh at some of the things that people wish for however. Bluetooth 3.0? seriously? 2Ghz cpu? Lets all stop setting ourselves up for disappointments. Apple has and always will be about user experience (meaning average consumer, not bleeding edge hardware spec techies).

The poster said "a flash" as in camera flash and not as in adobe flash. At least that what I assume he means by using the letter a first.

Another big wish-list item for OS 4.0 appears to be the ability to multitask. Imagine something like Windows Aero Flip 3D for the iPhone? Except Apple could call it iAero iFlip i3D or something.

I'm not sold on Apple going back to the aluminum backing. They have enough issues with dropped calls (and it's not all AT&T) without putting a casing that makes recepion worse.

Apple seems to think it works fine - they're doing just that on the iPad...

Yeah when I had my 1st Gen, it was just fine, never had a dropped call. Granted, I never really made calls, mostly text, but still. Never had a reason to complain.

It probably just really depends on where you live.
