This is my daughter's phone today. Ugh. Any ideas about what is going on?

Try hard reset and restore.....if that doesn't help, than I am afraid it's a hardware problem, so straight to nearest service.

Try holding the power button and the home button till the phone turns off. Turn it back on like normal and see if you at least get the Apple logo. That'll at least tell you if it's hardware or software related.
