This happend about one week ago... One day while my friends and I was sitting down and waiting for our jiu-jitsu class to begin we were talking. The iphone came up and he said that he ordered one and he has to wait about two weeks for it to come in the mail. I told him that my cousin is selling hers, she had plans to sell it and make a profit, but here in Hawaii the iphones didn't sell out right away so her plan didn't work out. Anyway i told him she would sell it to him for the original price. So i set up everything with her and planed for her Mother ( my aunty ) to bring it to her work place and i would swing by and pick it up from her. Here comes the sad part... When my aunty was leaving her house to go to work she was taking out the trash and her hands must have been full and she accidentally threw the $600 iphone in the trash can! By the time she realized what had happened the rubbish had been picked up already. How sickening is that!!! I meant to post this a while ago but it slipped my mind. Anyone got any other horror stories?

How about the people saving up to buy an iPhone just to smash it?

^ Thats one of the most retarded things i have ever heard. Who would donate to that?!? and besides the iphone already got blended, isn't that enough for the iphone haters?

    Are any more necessary?
Lesson of the day: think twice before buying a $600 phone, I guess.
    Bad luck.

This post reminds me of a care package a friend of mine got in the mail, many years ago. Seems his parents decided to toss in a solid gold coin as a 'surprise'. But they tossed it in loose - along with all the newspapers they used as packing material. He took out the wrapped packages, and tossed the box - along with the newspaper, and the gold coin.

Didn't find out there was a coin in there until days after the trash had been collected.

Sorry for your loss. Maybe homeowner's insurance would cover it?

^ good idea, never thought about home owners insurance, I will mention it to my Aunty. But wouldn't it just make her rates go up. It may not be worth it, but sure worth a try!

If I had a website to publish the results I most certainly would smash an iPhone myself (not donate). The advertising $$$ for the first website(s) to smashing/pull apart/stress test/blend are going to make the cost of iPhone back + some extra for the kitty. There's been a proliferation of sites getting in the act because it's profitable. Is it a waste? Most certainly. Is it retarded? Not if you're savvy enough to do it quickly and with your own spin to generate page views...

edit: to clarify I wholeheartedly agree with you that the website linked above is pathetic. They're not going to make it :)!

It doesn't look like anybody has donated yet. I'd be surprised if anyone does.

How the hell do you drop the iPhone into the trash?

I'm sorry, I'm being insensitive. You're right...it does make sense to carry a $600 phone in your hand while your arms are full and you're taking out the trash.

Perhaps your Aunty hasn't heard of the latest craze...these things called pockets. An ancient invention that allows you to carry things without holding them in your hands. If you're sense of fashion prevents you from having pockets on your clothing, then they've invented a marvelous device called the pocket book. It's like pockets, only bigger and you can carry it over your shoulder.

^ no i did not have to pay my cousin back, my aunty would not let me. And even if i did have to pay her back i couldn't, i dont have enough money. Haha, very unfortunet. About the smash the iphone thing, i guess its not that bad if they are making a good profit off of it. If you think about it, its kind what happened to my cousins phone.

unless you have the biggest pockets in the world that can fit the iphones box in you are correct, pockets would be the way to go. I guess i should clarify the iphone was still in the box, it was never opened and my aunty put it in a bag for me and she accidentaly threw the bag away.

    Maybe this would have helped:
Those who are contemplating some type of bizarre surgery to ensure your dear cellphone stays permanently attached to your person should probably hold off, as a couple of companies are teaming up to curb the oh-so-typical problem of misplacing one's handset. New Japan Radio Co. and Superwave Corporation have reportedly joined forces to "develop a chip that uses weak radio waves to communicate with mobile phones, paving the way for devices that tell users when a handset is misplaced." Supposedly, the chip would communicate with one's phone "every few seconds," and if you bolted from the subway sans your cellphone, a sound or vibration would apparently be there to alert you of your mistake.

    :p

And in which part of your anatomy would this chip be implanted?
