If I charge my iPhone G3 from the wall plug charger while actively using the iPhone continuously, it gets hot. It doesn't if I charge it while it's asleep. Looks like running both the charge circuitry and the CPU+display maxes out the power/temperature envelope.

Haven't tried putting it in airplane mode to see if the radios contribute to the heat issue.

I have also noticed that my phone gets very hot, much warmer than I remember before upgrading when I use it. I held the phone to my face today, and couldn't help noticing just how warm it was.

Let's see, terrible battery life, and now it runs hot. Hmmm, I think a downgrade to 2.1 is in order.

Try turning off wifi and see if it is cooler when it charges.
