Any indication as to when we may see it ? At the keynote Jobs mentioned the US, Europe and Asia but no mention of Australia. Anybody know ?
Sorry if this has already been asked, I've been away for the past few weeks.
yep we have to wait as usual.... Dunno about NZ, they usually have to wait even longer. Do our Kiwi friends have an official Apple store yet?
Whenever it comes out, I just hope to god it's not exclusive to Telstra.
Doubt it. Optus are big enough and ugly enough to want a piece of the pie, as are Vodafone, if it starts selling well everyone's gonna be jumping through hoops to sell it.
So glad our system isn't as bad as the US though.
I heard that somewhere along the line Cingular actually own Optus. If so, this would be a fairly good indication that Optus would get the iPhone contract in Australia.
In the Keynote, Steve also makes comment that a 3G model will be available down the track. My guess would be that they would have to make the Australian version 3G (or perhaps NextG with Telstra (does anyone know the difference between 3G and Next G???))
This goes the same for nz i guess 😱
Vodafone said they want to sell it in late 2007 for $699/$899.
Mate, WE don't have an official Apple Store yet. Only the online store and resellers.
The Kiwis just got an official Apple presence there with an online store, dedicated apple.com/nz webpage and iTunes Store.
But neither of us have an Apple Store yet.
Not sure about Optus and Cingular, to be honest. I thought Optus was owned by SingTel or something like that.
SingTel Optus Pty Limited is the second largest telecommunications company in Australia, and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Telecommunications (ASX: SGT). The company primarily trades under the Optus brand, while maintaining several wholly owned subsidiary brands, such as Virgin Mobile Australia in the mobile telephony market and Uecomm in the network services market.
