It's funny how everyone uses sony ericsson for mock-ups leading everyone to think whenever they seen an ericsson that it's an iphone. :p I fall for it too.

All the phones in Casino Royale were SonyEricssons. There was definitely no iPhone anywhere in the movie.

sony ericsson m600i

for my money, the sony ericsson m600i (used by vesper) is hands down the best looking phone out there right now, only it's targeted solely at the business user, and a camera version has yet to be released. If it had any camera, even just a 1 MP (most of their new phones have 2+), it'd be in my pocket right now. It was released in the US in July, let us hope somewhere down the line they'll realize the consumer demand for this business phone......

It's not bad indeed. Sadly it's completely incompatible with isync so far. So as a smartphone for a mac user its pretty much useless.

It doesn't look that great at all, and from the film it gave me the impression it was buly.

Best looking phone right now has to be the Nokia 8800 Sirocco.

Vesper in Casino Royale has an Apple iPhone. Teaser???? I was intrigued...

:D

I saw Casino Royal opening day. I did think several times "I've never seen that phone before." But it didn't register that it was an iPhone. If you're right, good catch!

I can't find anything on the web that definitively claims that it's the iPhone... but I'm choosing to believe it.

Look above - as others have pointed out its the white M600i - I've got the black model for work, and its blue markings on the back are very familiar to me.

As Sony Entertainment are the distributors of the film, and given the heavy Sony product placement in the film (mp3 player, phones, laptops) do you serious consider an Apple product would sneak in?

It is, as pointed out numerous times, it is the M600i. I also thought I should follow up on Piarco's point about Sony being the distributor: the film was made by Columbia Pictures, a division of Sony Entertainment, which is in turn a division of Sony. Which is why Mr.Bond uses an SE phone and a VAIO laptop while Vesper uses a SE phone and a Sony Cybershot camera. I think I might be a bit too brand concious. :D

Although maybe a m600i owner can confirm to us whether the UI seen in the film is in fact the M600i's UI. (I've never owned an SE, just curious...the UI looked really cool)

It is - although the icon bar at the top shows that everything is running in the background - a lot of apps like bluetooth I switch on when needed, but it seems they had everything that could possibly run in the background was switched on! The M600i is a great business phone, but its lack of camera does it a disservice. The W950i is its sister walkman branded phone with a more conventional (of sorts - you'll see if you google for it) keyboard and 4GB of flash memory - similar UI, just Walkman orientated.

How's your experience with the keypad on it? It looks like an amazing idea, but I wonder if it's easy to get the hang of. A general mini-review of the phone would be awesome :D And is it true that it doesn't play nice with iSync?

i just got the SE K800i on contract from O2. the salesman bought it out of the back room and said there was a special bond promo going on, so the phone came with 3 Bond DVD's and a bond packaging, etc. appparently, the silver colour is a special one for the bond film. well, that's what he said. connection? maybe.

it's wierd that this thread should come up actually, i have always felt that the sony ericssons closely follow the "apple way". simple UI and some of the phones are stunning.

s

Is that a G5 laptop in the top right corner?

And the UI used on phones on the movies are often faked.

Maybe - but Vesper's UI was accurate for the M600i throughout the film - until the very last message that Bond gets from her - and all that's wrong with that is the font sizes.

Unfortunately the K800i isn't capable of point GPS mapping in real time ;) :D

The keypad is pretty easy to get used to - before getting it I had a good play around in the shop, and decided it would take about a week to get up to speed, and that's about right.
Unfortunately it doesn't play with iSync which isn't a major problem for me as it's needed to sync with my work computer which is XP. Still, I'd like to be able to sync on occasion. I'm surprised no-one has come up with a workaround yet like they did for my K800i - I downloaded a script that made iSync play with that, but no-one has done the same for the M600 as yet (to the best of my knowledge).
I'll see what I can do about a mini review :)

Awesome so far, thanks a lot!
