btw an off topic question, are any of you getting a screen protector for the phone or no? I've seen a lot of drop tests for the 12 series and the ceramic shield seems pretty strong and already have a case so I'm not leaning towards to get a screen protector right away.
Nope, I've never used a screen protector with any iPhone since the original, and don't ever plan to.

Finally got mine delivered. The guy placed it on my doorstep and walked away. No signature required. Just glad to finally have it in hand. Camera lenses are ridiculously huge compared to my 6s plus.
Hey @ProVideo I got mine the same way. I guess this time of year they’re hurrying to get all of their route finished on time. Though he did arrive early to my house. Either we got placed earlier on the route or they divided our route among two trucks for the holidays. I used to get my stuff practically at night.

Wow this gold phone is gorgeous! There is a teeny tiny pin head sized thing on the edge of the top stainless band. It’s just a tiny not perfectly sharp smooth part of the metal edge, part of the manufacturing process not damage. I will never see it again unless I look close like I’m doing now and I pretty much only do that the first time I get a phone.

Whew! So I’m relieved the phone chassis is essentially flawless by my standards. After tracking this phone like a little reality show I would have been sad if it has arrived damaged.

I still need to set it up and make sure it actually functions as it is supposed to.

But I’m glad at least, after hearing the horror stories about gaps and scratches and dents that the aesthetics are on point.

No I don't plan on getting screen protector and have rocking it naked screen so far and no scratches. Never needed one.

Glad you got the phone. For me even that teeny tiny pin head sized thing damage would bug me a lot so for me had I received that, I would have definitely return it. I understand nothing is perfect but it's just me.

It’s not actually damage. It’s just a really tiny imperfection in the smoothness of the surface. What I think it is, is maybe a slight extra thickness of the coating they put on the steel. So far this phone is exceeding my hopes, so it would be a shame to return it for something so inconsequential. Plus I know I’ll put worse marks on it myself eventually. I put a nasty scratch on my daughter’s 12 Pro just by putting a polycarbonate case on it. These flat shiny steel sides are ridiculously hard to keep pristine. I had to use cloths to help me insert my new phone into it clear tpu case because it accumulated fingerprints like crazy even though I’d just washed my hands!

Are you sure it's not the antenna band? There are several around the phone and they look like tiny chips out of the front edge of the stainless steel bands.

Yeah it’s sort of near the top right. It is really tiny. You have to align it to a light source to detect this teeny tiny pinprick point where the light doesn’t reflect evenly from that spot. Given how big this phone is and the steel band around it is, I was actually expecting a lot more in the way of imperfections than that. I’m actually quite pleased that’s been the only imperfection so far. I did the “raised blacks” video test and yes, got just the faintest of raised blacks. All of our 12’s we’ve had so far have done that.

Everything I’ve tried with the camera has worked out as expected so far. I haven’t tried video yet. I’m actually back in bed waiting for Advil to kick in for my messed up neck.

I was a little worried that the stress of the holiday demand on the production line would mean I’d run into some qc issues. But so far, I haven’t seen anything like that.
