iPhone in Europe: only in UK, France and Germany?

Look what I found in the technical spec of the new iPod touch:

the iPod touch and the iPhone have similar OS.. so this could be an evidence that iPhone will be relased only in UK, France and Germany in 2007

Apple had said (sorry, I can't find the reference right now) that the UK, France and Germany were going to be first this year, with other countries coming in 2008.

Belgian law prohibits exclusive deals like the one Apple made with AT&T. It cannot be sold over here unless Apple unlocks it an you can choose the phone-company for yourself.

We could be waiting a while over here too so. I know Vodafone acts as an "independent" company in each country i.e. different deals have to be worked out for each country, but is it the same for O2?
