About time they removed the shackles and allowed industry standard vs proprietary controllers. They just now need to allow freedom to install Kodi front end, IAGL add-on and Retroarch to check out nearly unlimited retro console and arcade games from Internet Archive.

Nonsense. You can already do all that mentioned on MacOS. iOS is all about taking away your freedom and forcing you through app store.

Well that’s the point, if Apple allowed it via the App Store they’d be condoning copyright infringement. If you don’t want the walled garden that Apple offer it’s probably easier to just buy one of the many Kodi boxes available rather than insisting Apple open up their OS.

It works perfectly on the iPad.

I have the 12inch 2018 iPad Pro running iPadOS. The Xbox controller which to be honest I had no idea it was Bluetooth, I have Xbox One X... it works great with the iPad. Pairs as you would expect in the settings app.

I’ve made a video of me playing GRID Autosport but it’s hard to hold the phone and pad at the same time... gimme a min and I’ll get it uploaded.

Will game developers need to update their apps to support both controllers though? This may or may not come.

If the game already supports the game controller framework the new controllers should just work. Developers will need to update games if they want to use L3 and R3 buttons though since that’s a fairly recent addition.
