So i got an iPhone 6S plus a few weeks ago and my dad asked me to remove the old iPhone 5s off of find my iPhone, but he took it into his own hands. he went into find my iPhone, and hit erase, and it wiped out my whole old iPhone 5s, and while it was wiping, it ran out of battery and died. now when i plug it in, it goes into recovery mode, i open iTunes, i try to update or restore, and it gives me errors left and right about the network and some 14xx or 400x or 40xx errors or like a 1671 error.... I've tried all the tips apple recommends and nothing works... what should i do...

DFU restore the phone.

DFU restore the phone.
I've tried, to make sure I'm doing it right.... its always on the connect to iTunes screen, so i hold down the home and lock button for 10 seconds, then release the home and continue holding the lock, it tells me i need to restore, so i do, then it gets stuck on waiting for iPhone, then fails and gives me a 4013 error i think it was

It may take you a few tries to get it in DFU mode, but after you do it a couple of times, it becomes easy.

Yes, like the note on the bottom of my link says:

"NOTE***: It may take a few attempts to get your iPhone into DFU mode. Generally, I hold down both buttons then release the Home button just before I think the Apple logo would appear. If you are still holding both buttons down and you see the Apple logo you are holding them down for too long!"

Should work if you hold the buttons and it is able to shut down again.
my only option is recovery mode, i hold down both buttons, the apple logo shows up after 7.5 seconds, then turns off, after 10 seconds i only hold the lock button, screen stays black, but nothing pops up in iTunes. if i unplug and plug back in, it goes back into recovery instantly.

It sounds crazy, but I was having the exact same problem and it turned out to be my USB cable. Swap it out and see if it will work. I banged my head on the table for hours trying to figure it out, swapped cables and voilà

lemme give it a try

The instruction in my link is from 2008. Maybe 10 seconds are too long on a newer phone. You have to release the buttons directly before the Apple logo shows up. That's what it makes so complicated to get into DFU mode, because you don't know the exact time to release the buttons.

Now I am so curious about how it works, that I will try it on my 6S Plus. :D

What you don't do is multiple post across MacRumors.

You now have fractured information across a few boards.

Can the Moderators merge these threads please ?

It worked at the second try. :D Screen is black and iTunes tells me the phone is in Recovery mode.

I did not count the seconds but 10 are definitely much too long.

@Dreichler

@bandofbrothers is right. You should report your first post in the other threads with less answers yourself and a Moderator or Admin will move the answers to this thread.
