Iphone is deleting my mail

Hi for a couple of weeks now my iPhone is only keeping around 20-25 messages when i set up in the account to keep 2000. It doesn't delete from my hotmail account on hotmail.com but it deletes by itself on my phone. It doesn't go to trash either.
Any suggestions?
