iPhone jack problems

I have an iPhone 3GS and just bought Dr Dre Beats Tour earphones and they work fine with everything apart from my iPhone. I thought it was my iPhone that was broken but other headphones work fine. The headphones work fine if i hold the jack out a little bit. I spoke to a friend and he said he had the same problem with his iPhone 3GS. Has anybody had this sort of problem before and how was it fixed?
