Hi all; a week ago I bought my brand-new unlocked vodafone 16 GB iphone 3g. Yesterday I come back from my holidays and I decided to Jailbreak it, in order to add some other application. I upgraded my iphone to 2.0.2, then I jailbroke it with pwnage 2.5. evrything was working fine, although the openssh version from installer used to stuck my iphone on the boot logo. I solved by connecting to the iphone via SSH: once I did that, it started. I removed it and I installed the cydia one, which was working fine. this morning I tried to use an app store free application I had, and it didn't work: it crashed after the first screen; and so did the other applications. I tired to restore it to retail 2.0.2, but applications from appstore still crash. I'm restoring without restoring old settings, but i doubt it'll work. what can I do? is sending to warranty the best way? I'd like to fix it by myself, however. thanks in advice, Francesco

Hmm... A bit strange for such thing to happen. Well, you can try using iTunes to restore it or use WinPwn to restore it when u jailbreak it. Another possible problem is that the applications you installed has some problem, and try re-downloading it might help. Furthermore, i don't think Apple or Vodafone has warranty over modified iPhones.

    Hope that helps...:)

i restored it several times, now i've just jailbroke it. i think i'll restore it and i'll send it to warranty. i'll say that after an update any application stopped working; i think it's the best solution.

Well, i think it can be traced what applications you've downloaded. Apple's not dumb. Anyway, may i recommend using WinPwnGui120 to try jailbreak it, and it will sort of have a back up application also. It might not work, but i think it might be worth a try...

    frozen boot

I had a similar issue when I jailbroke mine yesterday.

After I jailbroke it, it was working fine, however, an app that I downloaded and installed didn't work right, so I rebooted the phone a couple times. It just locked up at boot, and sat there in all of it's pineapple sunshine. Nothing more.

So I restored it back to 2.0.2 factory, and synced it. The apps that were originally on the phone worked like a champ. However, apps downloaded from iTunes didn't work. They'd load and then shut down within 3 or 4 seconds. So, I synced the phone again without the apps to remove 'em, and then resynced. It worked, and now those apps work again.

This is actually a common problem, stock, or jailbroken.

Yea, but what software you used to jailbreak your iPhone? I used WinPwn and it just work fine on the first time. No re-booting, no re-sync or whatever.:) My cousins and other friends also have similar crash problem. I'm trying to find out the most ideal jailbreak software.

Well, maybe it might be the jailbreak software you used are not compatible with your iPhone. Anyway, lets just hope your warranty is still fine. Good luck!

I used QuickPwn. But that has nothing to do with apps you download from the apple store. I've looked around and found out this happens whether or not you have a jailbroken phone. More than likely a bug in the firmware they'll probably have resolved in the alleged 2.1 update.
