I am currently thinking about getting the iPhone lighting dock for my iPhone 6s. I am reading the reviews on Apple's website and their are complaints that the dock puts to much pressure on the iPhones charging port and I am wondering if that is the case. http://www.apple.com/shop/reviews/MGRM2AM/A/iphone-lightning-dock-white

Anyone who has one, can you please give me your opinion on it? I am going to be using it on my nightstand by my bed.

I know Apple uses them at their stores but how are they?

Mine is fine. Haven't really had anything happen to my phone or the dock. I have the space gray to Match my phone sometimes put my Apple TV remote on it. I don't think you should worry much

How long have you been using yours? Do you have a case on your iPhone?

I got a belkin lightning dock for a cool $9 and used some extremely strong 3m adhesive to stick it to my nightstand. Sticking it down allows me to pull my phone off without holding the dock down, and lets my iPad charge comfortably without having the dock tip over. It also supports the back of the iPhone to prevent too much stress from being put on the lightning port. I can't speak for the Apple dock since I've never owned one, but I highly recommend this one.

I've had it since the color ones came out I forgot when haha. I do. I use an otter box and he apple silicone case.

Does the otter box fit on the dock and able to charge. I have a ballistic case that has protection on the bottom and would assume the otter box would also fit.

Are you able to use a case on your iPhone then and use this dock?

If the dock will be used merely for charging, then it would be fine. But if you plan to use the phone much while it is docked, I'd go with a dock that provides some rear support.

I don't own a case for my phone, but it doesn't seem like it would work well with anything except an Apple case. I'm willing to bet it wouldn't be too hard to modify the dock so it works with cases, but that's probably not what you're after.

My otter box works fine. Except it's not the large otter box. It has a flip cover on it

I am thinking about getting one to use on my desk and thinking about just getting the silver one to go with my silver MacBook Pro but I have a space grey iPhone, do you guys think they will look good together. I was thinking about getting the silver to have a neutral color or getting the black one. I am still unsure if I should get one because the next iPhone might have wireless charging and it might be dumb to buy a dock right now. I am still unsure.

I swear some people probably treat their iPhones better than they treat their own body.

That Seems a bit extreme to say.

Most people treat their iPhones and property with more respect, likely because it's an expensive investment. Some don't upgrade iPhones annually and want their devices to last. Others are careless and they subject their iPhones to water damage or what have you.

And, I think the notion is fair to say, the iPhone is a fairly premium device that's well-built. Phones have come along way from where they were and they were plasticky and cheaply made. So that's probably part of the reason why some try to rationalize a $700 plus iPhone in terms of how they view it.

i would consider your health a better investment than a $700 device. but hey, that's just me. ;)
