Phones iPhone looks tiny next to this titan

How do people really think bigger phones are silly? It I actually carried a tablet with me everywhere I went, I would rather have a note 2. It fits in my pocket and is a great blend of the two devices. I honestly have to believe they have never tried one...only seen one from afar. Obviously a mega is an exception, but the note 2 is no where near this massive unpocketable phone some say it is.

For some it is....

I know I'm always drawn to the Note 2 because of reviews and all the good pub it gets....but when I actually see the thing in person and pick it up, I can't imagine using it daily like I do my smartphones.

I have my iPad mini with me most of the time, but its in my bag. My phones are always on me. For me, its more convenient to have multiple devices (a phone and tablet) that are used for different purposes rather than one device that makes compromises (too big for comfortable one-handed handling and phone use, too small for gaming and movie watching).

These are just my preferences though - I think the people who make big sweeping generalizations ("the Note 2 is EASILY used one-handed" - which I've heard before, and conversely "the Note 2 doesn't fit in my pocket" - which, unless you wear skinny jeans, is simply an attempt to discredit someone's opinion) are on both sides of the discussion.

Really it just comes down to what you want to use - my biggest issue is that Samsung's trend seems to be an increase in screen size each year across all their phone lines - will they continue to increase the Galaxy line's screen? I would be interested in a Note 3, but not at bigger than 5.5". Will they continue to "force" their customers to get a bigger phone if they want to upgrade?

I would bet not, but its funny to see how the trend is being pushed and seems to finally have hit a wall with many now saying 5" is their ideal screen size.

But isn't that the point for some people? Bigger screen for the same or close to the same money wins when they're shopping for a phone OR a TV?

Samsung SHOULD be able to know without shipping the damn thing! You know a month or two ago, to put it in perspective, some sites (Macrumors included, I Think. I can't be bothered to look it up) were talking about names for the ipod Apple passed on, and in one case showing some internal developmental failed designs.

One thing that Apple does do that Samsung could take a lesson from is they do the majority of their testing and development in-house (Apple Maps and Siri notwithstanding), especially for expensive hardware like a new handset.

By trying out various phones (I currently have the iPhone 5, Galaxy S3, and Note 2), I've been able to determine that my ideal screen size is right around 5". In the next couple of months, I'll sell my Note 2 and S3 and easily pay for the S4 with a couple of hundred bucks in my pocket to spare.

To me, what's wrong with it, is that when a company releases so many minor variations of similarly-constructed products, that they have a poor understanding of why their first big hit was so successful. So, rather than risk making changes to the original hit phone that may prove to be unpopular, they start introducing new phones with slightly different feature sets, hoping to gain new users. This explains how the original Galaxy phone has turned into a Galaxy line of phones.

So to me, it is just a business point of a lack of understanding on Samsung's part.

Unless I'm misunderstanding you isn't that what Samsung is doing? Their galaxy line is evolving similar to that of the iPhone but quicker IMO. Meanwhile they have other products. The Note line which was popular and evolving Note, Note 2 and soon Note 3.

Now they are trying something different with a larger phone. If it works it works, if not its not like they don't have the Galaxy and Note.

If Apple ever made a crappy iPhone (just for example) then they are SOL. Their entire phone product line would be dead.

To me it seems like Samsung knows exactly what they are doing and so far its worked. And if it doesn't one day, maybe with this mega phone then so what. Lost some money for sure but they have plenty of phones to fall back on.

Are you sitting at home listening to your U2 special edition iPod, playing your Apple video game "thing" before you go out and take pictures with that pos QuickTake 200 camera?

Samsung follows Apple strategy with one hero device - criticised for following Apple strategy.

Samsung doesn't follow Apple strategy with many deviations of their flagship phones - criticised for not following Apple strategy.

I have a feeling, no matter what Samsung pull out of their hat next, it'll be wrong in certain people's eyes.

The Note still gets mocked to this day (lulz, you need a handbag to carry it! It's not a good phone and its not a good tablet. You look like a dick talking on it. E.t.c), but continues to do well for Samsung.

Let's see where this next chapter in Samsung handsets takes them. It'll either crash and burn or be another suprising success despite its inability to be used one handed.

I don't get this attitude. As long as they make the smaller sizes then why be disappointed? Obviously there is a market, more choices is good.

They think it is silly because of insecurity over what they own.

Mine is 4.5, but it doesn't bother me if some like larger.

Sounds like someone is jealous. I guess in your mind a larger, more comfortable car rather than jamming yourself in a mini has something to do with penis size?
 
just buy whichever suits you. I have a note 2 and never have any problems with it fitting in any my pockets. for ME the iphone is too small, but that doesn't mean its too small. why does everyone have to think their phone size is best for everyone and anyone else that thinks otherwise is stupid? you guys are the ones that look stupid, its just a phone guys. your all sounding like bible bashers.

Some people think all they do is right and anything else is wrong. I think it has to do with insecurity and quite possibly this is where penis size comes in.
 
just give the ipad mini cellular capabilities and apple will be ahead in the size war. LMAO

Get a GS3 Mini, best of Samsung and Android in a 4.3 inch screen. Infinitely better than the tiny iPhone!

S3 mini is dumbed down in nearly every aspect. The main thing it has in common with the S3 is the name.

It's like comparing an iPad 4 to an iPad mini.
 
Good lawddddd, that 6.3" is massive! I thought the Note 2 was HUGE in person, but if a phone is bigger than the Note 2, then that is just plain ridiculous! I am waiting on a small 5'1 to 5'4" girl to walk around with the 6.3" phone. Lol.

I'm quite happy with my tiny iPhone 4 thank you very much! No jealousy here. It was a joke Joyce. :p

No, a larger car has to do with environmental irresponsibility, a different kettle of fish altogether!

A large phablet is not for me, but that doesn't mean it's not right for others. I see people loving them on public transport, if they can get a seat!
