I have an iPhone 4GS which has worked fine for ten months or so. Recently howevery, it has began losing its ability to find or connect to wi-fi.

If I switch the phone off or reset the network settings, the phone will find my wi-fi and connect first time but after ten minutes or so it loses it and when I browse connections there are none to be found, despite the fact there are at least 9 within the vicinity of my house which can usually be seen ok.

Anyone any ideas on how to resolve or is it a hardware issue?

what iOS version are you on. i believe that ios 6.0.2 fixes some wifi issues being faced by few users. incase you are not on 6.0.2, u might wanna upgrade. if you're on that already, then im not sure... :(

I have 6.0.1 and if I check for update it says I have latest version?

ah that explains it! 6.0.2 update was specifically for users who were having wifi problems. so you will need to upgrade. however im not sure why you're not able to upgrade. try doing the upgrade from your PC/laptop via itunes. i'm guessing you were trying an OTA update?

But on the flipside, some users even reported that after upgrading to 6.0.2, their battery got messed and isin't lasting as long as it should. that's basically why i never upgraded.

Just read that 6.0.2 is for iPhone 5 owners only. The bug fix appears to affect only iPhone 5 so I am guessing I have a different issue

Damn - lost wi-fi altogether now. The option to turn it on has gone!

Hardware?

It's prob a hardware issue.
And 6.0.2 is only for the iPhone 5.
And there's no such model as iPhone 4gs.

Back to factory defaults and its the same. Works for around 2 minutes.

I know but wouldnt matter anyway :(

Typo and I am a plonker

Hate having faulty gadgets

Thanks to all that helped today
