Hello - I have searched these forums and the internet for a solution to my problem but have had no luck.

I had an iPhone 4S which was set up and synced with iCloud, as well as my MacBook Pro. I lost my iPhone last week whilst abroad in the Bahamas (I live in the UK). I called my network operator (Vodafone) who barred the SIM and the handset so they could no longer be used.

However, now when I open my address book on my MacBook, or log into iCloud.com, ALL of my contacts have disappeared!!

I can see in the iCloud settings (in System Preferences) that the last backup date was the day before the iPhone was lost.

It will be a week or two before I am able to get a new iPhone due to insurance claims, etc., and am very concerned as to whether I will get all of these contacts back if I do a restore from the iCloud backup on the new phone.

I also do not understand why all contacts have disappeared from my MacBook and iCloud.com.

Any help or reassurances would be greatly appreciated!

Just a guess, but I would imagine the person that found/stole your phone deleted them. Killing the SIM is a good idea, but I would have done a remote wipe first. Without that the person that has it is free to connect to wifi and keep using for everything but calls.

Thanks for the reply. Vodafone had actually barred my data roaming a few days before it was lost/stolen (I exceeded my data cap), so I wasn't able to do a remote wipe or use the find my iPhone service on iCloud.com.

If someone did indeed steal the phone, connect it to Wi-Fi and delete all of my contacts, do you think that the the iCloud back-up from before the loss will have my contacts? Otherwise I don't see how to get any of them back...

According to Vodafone they also barred the handset itself (not sure what that means), but I suppose if it was stolen then the contacts could have been deleted beforr that.

Many thanks for your help, much appreciated!
