So, I finally dumped Gmail because of the whole not syncing thing between my iPhone, desktop, and web interface.

I went back to .Mac because 1) I thought it was integrate seamlessly with iPhone and 2) I will probably use the web gallery feature of the new iPhoto

So, i set up my new .Mac account. Then (in Mail.app) I transferred all my Gmail email to the .Mac servers. Went without a hitch. I deleted the gmail account on my iPhone and then added the .Mac one. It downloaded all the email quickly because it was on my wifi..but there's a problem. The email in my inbox is unsorted. The most recent mail (from today and yesterday is on top) but then it jumps back to 2006 after just a handful of messages and I have no idea why.

I did notice when logging into .Mac (web interface) for email (when it works -- it's been down for me for the past 3 days most of the time with the 500 server error) that the mail is exactly as unsorted as it comes in on the iPhone. For some reason there is no default sort option to change...why it doesn't auto-sort by most recent is beyond me. But at least on the web interface you can manually sort the column for date, but on the iPhone there is no way to do this that I am aware of.

Has anyone had experience with this problem?

Also, are there server-side rules for .Mac email? Or are you supposed to just rely on Mail.app rules and it'll sync back to the server?

Did you try doing the sort in mail.app and then resynching to the server? Shouldnt make a difference, but i imported from Gmail and didnt have this problem -- i mention mail.app just because i didnt go back to the web interface and only work in the application on my desktop.

Maybe the sort will "stick" that way, as other folder rules do....

I have it sorted by date in Mail.app, and it's been syncing all by itself. I just did a manual "Synchronize", but of course i cannot log in to the web interface to check if this actually works. Why is .Mac down so often? It's been like this for 5 days.

I'm guessing the web interface being down has something to do with apple upgrading storage space from 1gb to 10gb.
