anyone think with the software 3.0 update if there will be a "push notification" when you have new emails?
 
i have gmail... i wish it would just autoupdate when you get new emails rather then opening it up and downloading the mail.
 
Unfortunatelly gmail does not push to the iPhone. You can have it check in intervals. 15 minutes, 30 and hourly. Go to settings, Fetch new data, and you will see the time intervals there.
 
thanks, this is better than nothing..i can manage to wait a minimum of 15 minutes to get emails.
 
Maybe with 3.0 and push notifications released we'll also see push for Gmail since google and apple are pretty tight😉
 
Maybe Google will make their own GMail application. That way they could utilize the push notification feature from Apple to instantly alert you of new e-mails.

Or they could get Apple to implement IDLE support in their mail client, which would instantly give every iPhone user push e-mail using pretty much any modern IMAP server...

Nah, you're right -- it's an Apple technology -- they'll probably make their own App Store app.
