Hi all, im new, but have been a fan off the site for a while.

Maybe some of you could help me with my situ. I bought my iPhone in an o2 shop on the 17th Nov.Loved it from the beginning, but recently have had a few problems, which all came to a head today.
My main problem is the battery, i fully charged it last nite, woke up and it was at 10%. No wifi on, not near any heat,no alarms set all the usual turned off etc. So i called o2 support, who put me through to apple support and told the guy my problem, he came back to tell me, bring it back to where you got it and you will get a new iPhone as this is a fairly common and big problem!

Took it back and o2 laughed at me (yes laughed,as well as flicked through my phone) and said no, unless its in its first 14days,they cant do anything. Now i have missed this first 14days by 3 days, so i was not ammused at this!Phoned apple/o2 support and was then told by someone else that it can be sent of to be repaired, but i replacement will cost £25 for the lenght of time its away getting fixed!

Now im not happy, im going to loose the phone and get charged for a stand in???

Its not only the battery, but sometimes the ipod and phone icons dont light up on the bottom of the phone! Also my battery usage counter has never worked!and the audio out of this unit is, well horrible! even through my sony headphones! Ive done resets after resets to try and fix it as i didnt really want to get it replaced!

AND...as im typing now, ive had it plugged in for about an hour now via USB and its not moved the battery a bit, still red as its been for the past 2 days!!!!so i guess its now no good??

I think for £269 and after 17 days its stopped working to be told i have to send it off for up to 15 working days (3weeks) and a replacement is £25 is not acceptable! I was simply looking a new phone, as this clearly doesnt work!

sorry to have went on abit, but maybe someone has been in a similar situation or has any suggestions? thanx for reading, tony!

    Hello,

I have to admit to you that the speaker quality really is not very good but i am having no issues with the battery at all. The best thing you can probably do is shout down the phone at o2 or apple and complain it is not good enough and threaten to cancel your contract if they do not provide you with a new iphone on the spot.

    Has always worked for me

Do you have an Apple Store near you?
If you do I'd suggest try taking it there and asking to see a Genius, they may decide to give you a replacement there and then hopefully solving your problem.

Other than that you will want to make a complaint to o2, telling them how you were treated in store, and all you were doing is following advice from people that THEY put you through to.

Sorry I can't help anymore and I hope you get it sorted out.

How long does your batter last? I'm very dissapointed with my battery. On a full charge I get about 5 hours music

Time to get your shout on and demand to speak to senior managers, take names of dicks in the shop who laugh and generally aren't helpful, write those names down as they tell you them then ask for contact details of the complaints department etc. That's totally unacceptable.

It's the high quality setting (not lossless though). Will that make a difference?

Wirelessly posted (iPhone: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/3B48b Safari/419.3)

you're covered by the sale of goods act as the phone is clearly defective. Take it back and tell them in a firm but calm manner that you are rejecting it under the sale of goods act as not fit for purpose and demand a replacement. If they still refuse tell them you'll go to trading standards and follow through with it.
Basically you have the right to refuse faulty products that develop a fault in the first month as it is assumed that they were sold faulty.

You said you are charging with the USB. Stop that and try charging it with the wall outlet charger. If this does not improve it then call Apple -- they will stand behind their product.

    thanx

hi folks, and thanx for the replys.

i thought about the trading standards and mentioning that to them.I did another reset, and now the battery usage indicator is working. so far ive 10% battery left, with 1 day and 5 hours standby and just under 3 hours usage. not much of that was wifi or anything intensive.

Im going back today to complain about how i was treated, the more i think about it, the  i get. if these people dont know what they are talking about (which clearly she didnt)why are they working there? lol.

Im also going to mention tha i want to cancel my contract then, and see what happens. if nothing then im going on what Phil A has suggested.

Im waiting untill it dies then im going to try wall charging it to see if that makes a difference.

would my above usage figures be average for the iphone? as this is the first time my usage indicator has worked now is a good time to tell!

As with the icons not lighting up, its only the bottom corner 2, if you switch it off then on again, they re fine.maybe a firmware problem (i hoping more than anything its not a faulty screen).

And finally udio, ive had 4-5 ipods in my time, and none have sounded as bad through any headphones as my iphone. With EQ off or flat, it makes no difference. The tunes in my itunes have no EQ applied to them either and some are 320 quality.

Oh a tip for anyone looking to use their own headphones in an iphone without the adopter.i have a pair of sony in-ear type. i simply cut a small piece of rubber off from around the jack plug on the end.not alot, this is what stops the headphones fitting, now they work 100%. i can post up some photos if needed. Then i applied a small dab of superglue just to keep the strength on the remaining pieces of rubber sleve.works a treat, and does not take away from the look of your headphones.i even done it too my expensive pair of shure earphones. mabe someone will find this useful.

Again, thanx for all the replies.hers hoping the outcome is a good one.
