I think this phone is way to big with no benefit over the XS as the screen space is just zoomed in. Videos are even cropped down to only about .1 or .2 inches bigger then the XS. Any info on them actually utilizing the screen rather then making everything larger? I have the upgrade program from apple I’m assuming I can return and grab the XS?

Hint: Safari and Apple Music are apps.

Double hint their part of the UI which should of been updated to accomadate their new phone. I get third party apps, but apple programmed there UI around the max long before it was released

Yes, I agree. But they are still apps which can be updated. Right?

I was going to post a screenshot of fullscreen video, but it was too large.

Yes absolutely, I agree and the UI could be updated as well - but they didn’t optimize it for the Max which has you wonder if this is what they really intended and any major changes like a UI overhaul is usually a year away with a major software update like iOS 13.

Yes, a UI overhaul is at least as far away as 13. And, yes, Apple utterly failed, imo, properly to utilize space on the home screen. And the pillar boxes in Safari are way too intrusive in landscape.

But I can still watch videos fullscreen and they are necessarily more than .1 or .2 inches larger than the Xs. And updated apps still show more than the Xs. The phone hasn't even been out five days. I'm hoping more apps are updated soon.

Yea, my problem is I find the UI experience lacking for the size. In the future I’m sure they’ll step it up, but to me I don’t think it’s worth it to lug around a much larger phone with no real added benefits to utilize the extra space. I can go cop one a year later once they step their game up and truly make it worth while. As of now the regular XS is looking like a more well rounded alternative for its size.

Again, other than the home screen, which isn't going to change soon, the apps can be updated to use the screen better. If you think the Xs works better for you, that's cool.

After all, it certainly is a lot of money to pay for a device you are not fully happy with.
Return it, and use the device you wish. Not point being unhappy with said device...
