iPhone Mini-Headphone Jack BS!

Why why why did they have to recess the mini jack input so far into the enclosure. I can't fit any head phone jack into it except apples..... :-(
 
To make you use their headphones! They want to continue to see white headphones everywhere!!!! You can buy an adapter (google it).
