Hello,

I am very glad that i found your tweak jacknorris as it is very helpful in what
it does, but i have one serious problem.
Whenever i hit pause on the iphone it stops for a second or so and
then continues with the song.
Also when i end the ipod process, it shuts down and then pops up again
and starts playing music again. Basically i have found no way to stop
the music from playing other than unplugging.

Is this a bug or am i missing something?

Thanks in advance
Emilianos

P.S I emailed you the same question but it maybe that someone else is facing the same problem.

FYI, iOS 4.1 compatible

FYI, it appears that NoAccessorySplash iOS4 is compatible with iOS 4.1.

At least, it appears to work as expected on my 3GS with a Sn0wbreeze'd iOS 4.1.

Pop Up

Any chance this pop-up can also be blocked? :D

Spotlight & Voice Control

Is anyone able to use Spotlight search and/or Voice Control to control music playback when using NoAccessorySplash iOS4?

It seems to work great for using the functions within the iPod app, but won't let me click a song in Spotlight or change songs when I give it a voice command.

I tried the older patched version of MobileMusicPlayer posted in here as well, but had the same issue.

-Thanks

It all works fine for me with NAS installed so maybe it's something else you're using?

You mean like other Cydia apps? I'm only using pretty basic stuff like SBSettings...

Just to clarify, I can use spotlight and VC when I'm not connected to an accessory (my car). It's just when it's hooked up to my car, which would usually throw the 'Accessory Connected' screen that spotlight & VC don't have any control.

So you're able to to use spotlight and voice control to control music when you're connected to your "accessory"?

Thanks for the reply.

Hello all! I'm struggling too now with the accessory connected displayed on my ipod touch 2nd g (os 4.1) while connected to my alpine unit (old one, only supported up until ipod classics) witch still runs fine but i can't access music nor videos and of course it won't charge. Apps i can access. I found this thread and i jailbroke with redsn0w on windows (sorry :p since this is a mac forum, only one) just so that i could install NAS. I installed it and when i went to test it something else happened: First of all my HU gets stuck to "Searching..." (the ipod) and never finds it, second, the device knows its hooked up since it shows me: "Charging is not supported on this device" - normal, and the splash screen is gone but if i press play on a song from the ipod (while still connected and showing searching...) after a brief period music app closes, no music plays and it stays that way even after i disconnect from the HU. In order to get it working again i have to reboot.

So, give it to me straight doctors...do i stand a chance? or i should give up and try to find the AUX cable? (very hard to find where i live, think I'm gonna make my own)

I really like to control the ipod from the HU but would also like of course to have access to it too.

So if i may ask your help. Thank you!

FYI, iOS 4.2.1 compatible

FYI, it appears to still be compatible with iOS 4.2.1.

iPhone 3GS, old bootrom, bb 05.13.04, iOS 4.2.1 via PwnageTool

Doesn't quite work for me. I jailbroke my iPhone4 4.2.1 last night and installed NoAccessorySplash. I'm using my iPhone in a 2008 Mini Cooper Clubman S, which comes with iPod integration. Now I can control the iPhone by the native iPod application/screen, and i might even for a while get the correct track display on the head-unit, but the iPhone/iPod keeps stopping, and the radio/head-unit flips back to Tuner instead of the iPod input and I get that "accessory not supported" (or similar) message on my iPhone.

I guess I'll just go back to using Aux-in and FlickTunes (very cool app BTW) or I might do a hardware hack and build a USB switch to momentarily disconnect the iPhone from the head-unit while I choose music and then flick it back again to play the music and get head-unit control.

However, if there is a s/w fix, please let me know.

"NoAccessorySplash ios4" solved my issues on my iphone 4. I had an older version of Dension Icelink(for iPods) that I used in my Audi and I couldn't control my iPod app. Now I can. Thank you Jack Norris! BTW..I'm on 4.3.1.

I had very similar problems with Ford Sync. Although with my pioneer, everything works flawlessly.

I think it's a matter of how much the head unit controls.

Has anyone been able to get in contact with JackNorris? This tweak nolonger works for iOS5.0.0, and I'm thinking it probably has to do with the fact that the ipod app is now split up into music and videos. Stupid apple :(

This is the main reason I have held off on upgrading. However, I think I have a solution that may work for me, and possibly others...

Now that Apple let's music apps access the iPod/iTunes music library on our iPhones, you can use a 3rd party music app from the App Store to play and control songs while your iPhone is connected to your car iPhone adapter that locks the default iPod app.

The 3 apps I am currently testing are:

1. MyTunes ($5)
2. Bongiovi DPS (free)
3. Play (free)

So far, it is a toss up between MyTunes and Bongiovi for me. MyTunes comes with a "Driving" theme that displays extra large buttons for use when driving to make it safer to control your music since you don't have to go hunting for the little iPod controls like those in the default music player.

My only issue with MyTunes is that there seems to be a bug where the audio starts playing at the same time as the built in iPod app. To correct this, you have to make sure MyTunes is NOT running at all before connecting the iPhone to the car's iPhone adapter. Once the iPhone is connected and the default iPod app plays a song, you can then launch MyTunes and take control of the audio from there on.

Bongiovi DPS is more like the built in iPod player with some extra equalization settings. Hopefully MyTunes will be updated to correct the bugs, as I think it shows promise.

If anyone else has found a better music player to circumvent this Accessory Splash lock-out, please feel free to share it as I would like to find one that works really well without bugs.

Interesting workaround; I know there are a few of these alternate music apps.

MyTunes is showing up as free for me?

3. Play (free)

I can't find this one in the iTunes Store. Got a link?

Here are a few I have downloaded/read about… haven't had time to test them out to compare.

MyTunes is free for 10 minutes per day. You have to upgrade via in-app purchase to unlock. I have not paid for the full version yet as I am still testing things out.

Gotcha, thanks, I see this note:

Fans of SRS Labs on Facebook will get extra DJ Transitions for free!

WOWHD, Normalize, the EQ, and Driving Mode are free for a limited amount of time each day. You can unlock unlimited access for a fee.

The player, DJ transitions, and custom album art are available for unlimited use free of charge!

So far I think Music+ from your list above is the closest thing to the default iPod app. Pretty slick!

I've tried a bunch of those apps and none of them really work for me (either the music plays but the headunit doesn't recognise that music is playing, or it keeps wanting to play in both so i get 2 songs playing over the top of each other, or it just plain doesn't work at all.... sigh. I think the original noaccessorysplash is really my only solution that works well :( Hopefully jacknorris updates it soon!

Yep - I was having the exact same issue with them too. However, Music+ seems to not have that problem. It really is an iPod app clone that won't get locked out on you. For what it is worth, I am using the OEM 2006 BMW/MINI iPod adapter with the OEM Harmon Kardon head unit in my 2006 MINI Cooper S.

Yea true, will try Music+ tomorrow. also found one called cartunes which looks like it might work too (tho I don't like how you have to add music to its own playlist to play music instead of playing music straight from the library).

Still hoping JackNorris comes along and fixes the tweak soon, all of this is just a temp solution :(

FWIW, using it with an Eonon 2DIN WinCE 6.0 headunit.

Music+ works, tho it didn't seem to remember my place in a track (2 hour set), and for some reason half of my album art has gone missing :\ Supports lyrics tho so thats good (I put setlists in the lyrics). Guess its an ok temporary substitute for the NoAccessorySplash hack.

This is the one thing keeping me from updating right now. The primary thing I use my ipod for is podcasts and music in the car. It's pretty useless when the screen is locked out.

FYI - In addition to using Music+ for music, I have started to use Stitcher Radio for podcasts in the car (even though Music+ does support podcasts if you create a podcast playlist). It always remembers where I left off listening across all my devices and does not require me to sync all my podcasts to my device if I don't want to, yet it does a good job buffering for offline playback. Most importantly, it does not get "locked out" when I plug it into my car.
