looks good. i like the top bar - the different icons for the different things.

not to be overly picky but i think the time and date would look better either centered on the bottom or centered at the top (and not to the left at the bottom). the "Steve's iPhone" banner could go on the bottom. just my preference.

good work! keep the mockups comin!

It'd look a bit ugly, but you could put the camera on a rotating peice on top so people could use it for pictures AND videoconferencing.

Hmm, I just went and watched a movie, and now that I look at it again, I don't like the menu bar at all.. Hmm... I'll have to see if I can fix that...

Thanks for the feedback!

One of the better mock-ups I've seen.

One thing I'd hope to see from Apple is innovation with regards to inputting. I think we might see the iPhone arrive without a conventional keypad and use the scroll wheel and maybe just a couple of buttons. I'd like two cameras also for iChat and iPhoto duties.

If you don't mind me asking... What is it you don't like about the menu bar?

Personally, i like the Menu bar you created, but there is something about them being all black that i don't like. It just seems, so un-Apple like i guess. I guess i am just maybe asking to much... [sorry].

Looks good though, keep up the good work...

Nah, that is exactly why I didn't like it. It needs colored icons. A phone isn't going to use up that kind of screen real estate in a boring way like that. Unless, that is, Apple really does make a specialized OS X for the phone.

EDIT: Working on it.. really liking what's coming out. Will hopefully have it up by tomorrow!

Ok, as I promised...

Now I have to say a few things. First off, I've never really done any sort of interface like this, so go easy on me. Secondly, there is some possible explanation needed for what is going on?
The first phone is showing the normal interface you'd see while listening to a song.
The second phone is showing what happens when you're listening to music and you get a call. The icons and text on the screen dim, except for the date/time and menu bar, and the person calling (or number if it's not in your address book) appears and below is a picture (again, if available) The iTunes play symbol has also changed to a paused symbol, to indicate that you're not listening to music because there's a call. I'm guess you'd either open the phone, or simply press the center click wheel button to answer the call. Those things would obviously be worked out.
Lastly, the phone on the right is just a display of how entering numbers would look. Again, things like address book entries would all be accessed through pressing menu, where an almost identical iPod layout would appear, but instead of only having Music, Settings, etc., it would also have things related to the Phone like Address Book, Camera, you get the idea.

Feedback is welcome, as always. I also have more ideas that I hope to work on in the next few days. Thanks!

wow! i wish i knew how to work photoshop like that!! I have it but i thought it would be easier but better than iPhoto....
And love the phone!

Pretty cool but needs a camera on the front as well. My K800 has one and i use it for video calling quite often. Very handy for lots of things.

Okay, as promised here is Revision 3. I have improved (or at least I think) the icons along the menu bar, and have moved a few other things. There is now also a camera in the front! (Mobile Me! anyone?)

Tell me what you think!

Woah, nicely done! Latest revision is awesome... except of course, a new keypad would top it all off. Best mockup I've seen yet. I like the UI a lot too, actually.

Haha, actually I was thinking about doing that next. I'll play around with it. ;)

Thanks!

Overall, great job! I'd like one without the camera on the front. Revision two looks best to me. Replace the keypad, and I would buy it!

I love the concepts, and I could certainly see Apple releasing a phone with a similar physical design.

That said, I'm not particularly fond of the interface -- for some reason, it looks a bit cluttered to me. It just doesn't strike me as the way Apple would do it.

That's just me, though... overall, very nicely done; and I admire your Photoshop skills! :D

Awesome mockups. Really well done.

A few points:

- the cam on the front is nice, keep it.
- the cam on the back doesn't need a light as you wouldn't use it for video conferencing
- the incoming call screen with the transparent background looks distracting, make it so you cannot see the iTunes icon, etc. anymore
- the font with the white around it looks like it doesn't belong there

Other than that, I'd buy it in a second.

i like your mockup, but unless this phone is supposed to replace an ipod, i hope to god it doesn't look like one. i don't know why every apple product, that isn't an ipod has to look like one. I mean appropriateness is number one rule of design. I want my ipod to look like and ipod, but my phone, should just look like a phone.

That looks really, really nice. Very good job.

I wish Apple would come out with such a sweet mobile next year.

Let's get social!

I'd prefer a cam on the front only. I could see using it for video conferencing, but I never use my phone's camera for taking pictures. Then again, I don't listen to music on my phone either (and its only marginally good as a phone as well)

Front Camera Unnecessary

I really like the design (aside from the RAZR keypad). I like the revision two version of the iSight better. There is really no need for a camera on the front. It would only be good for photobooth. Who is actually going to video confrence while holding there phone out in front of them? I think it should be just a camera on the back. Plus since when does a phone have two cameras? isn't that a little unnecessary?

Also, I wonder how sturdy the sliding click wheel would be. Would it make more sense to attach the click wheel and the screen and have the keypad slide down from the back? I know that this phone isn't actually being designed, but just an idea.

Great Job with the Photoshop. Thanks!
