So my roommate got an iPhone for Christmas and I share my macbook with him (he logs in under Guest).
When he opened his iPhone, he hooked it up to my macbook (while under Guest account) and created a new itunes profile on the macbook and synced it with his iPhone.
Well he began making itunes purchases directly from the iPhone and when it came time for him to load some of his cd's onto the iPhone, no dice.
I ripped a few of his cd's for him (under guest account) and tried to copy them over to his iPhone... but itunes says that his itunes library is on another computer?? :-/ I'm signed into itunes under his account but am still getting this error.
I then try to select to manually manage songs on the iphone but it then wants to clear the music that is already installed. This would be fine if his itunes purchases (from the iphone) were on the macbook (under his account) but they are not listed.
I then tried to backup the songs from his iPhone with Senuti - but it doesn't read ANY of the music on the iPhone... This is really strange because I've used this program many times with success on my iPod video and iPod Touch.

I've tried everything I know to do... I really don't want to wipe his iPhone clean (by manually managing from itunes), throwing all of his purchases away..
    What do you guys think?

Another thing I thought about was to go ahead and select "manually manage" from itunes, deleting all his media, and then redownloading the music from itunes...
Well as I mentioned above, the itunes library (on macbook, under guest, logged in under his profile) doesn't have any of his purchases listed.. I then tried to go to the itunes store and perform a test. I searched for a song that he had downloaded directly from his iPhone and tried to redownload it to the macbook - it wants to make a new purchase..
    ugh

The Guest account saves nothing and deletes everything every time it is loaded, so I can't imagine how this is a good setup for him. If he ever wants to add anything to his iPhone, you'll need to re-rip every single thing that is on it each time he syncs, as well as redownload any apps that he might have on it. You can forget about backups for restores after software updates, too.

Just get him a real account (or tell him to get a computer), managed, not an administrator.

    Iphone Music To Mac

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Initially, all my pictures was in my mac and there after, my HD drive went dead. GOt it replaced and I was lucky.

The thing is that all my documents, songs & picture will never be recovered coz' HD failed.

Now, my iphone captured the music and pics. For the music, I'm using SENUTI...but it seems that I can't retrieve the file after trying to transfer. Also, I read od SEnuti help that I could drag the music into my mac. But this won't let me either. So frustrating.

Then, I tried to transfer my iphoto back to my mac but can't work at all unless the pic was taken originally fr my iphone.

The one saved ages in my mac (photo) not able for me to transefer it back to my laptop.

Anyway, facing the same problem that can help ???

    many thanks in advance...:(

I figured that about the guest account.
I could create him his own account but is there nothing that can be done with the itunes account and recovering music after it is erased (from the manually manager option enabled)?
