iPhone 'Music Sound Quality' -VS- iPod ?

Hi, I might buy an iPhone next month, but i just wanted to know what the sound quality was like while listening to music?

Is it any better or worse than the current generation of iPod's ?

Using my JBL headphones, I don't notice any difference from my iPod classic, Nano or iPhone.

I remember reading an article around June 2007 when the original iPhone was launched in the US. The article was about taking the phone apart.

inside the reporter said the iPhone had the same Music Processor Chip that can be found in the iPod 5.5G (iPod Classic wasn't available at the time).
