So today I got this email from apple after trying to activate my iPhone:

"Dear Apple Customer,
We appreciate your recent iPhone purchase at the Apple Store.
We are eager to activate your iPhone, however we have identified a problem with the information you provided during activation.
To complete your activation, please call us at 1-877-284-6834 and reference your Activation ID: -----------------.
We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your business.
Thank you for shopping at the Apple Store!
Sincerely,
The Apple Store Team

Has anyone else gotten this? What info do they need? I have been on hold for the past hour and 45 minutes 🙂mad🙂 so I want to make the actual talking fast!

Maybe you entered in your social security number wrong?

This is what happened to me... wrong social. But I knew right away since they declined the purchase.

I had to go to an AT&T store and bring 2 IDs and my ssn card. They fixed and then I was able to order.

Couldn't they just let me fix the SS# online?

That would be a huge security vulnerability. Then essentially you could just guess until you got something valid. Even if they limit it to like a three-try thing, that would be hairy.

I guess...but seriously waiting this long to fix something that small really has lowered my opinion of Apple's customer service.

Some here have said that instead of activating online, they just called Apple/AT&T and everything worked out

So, it isn't uncommon.

Ok the problem was that my AT&T bill was past due, BY ONE DAY! Seriously AT&T, refusing to activate my new phone because I didn't pay my bill yesterday. That is just retarded!

If they sent you the email the day AFTER it was due, I don't really see a problem with that

Well, yes, but any way it still is silly of them to do that. Eathier way they are going to be making more money from me considering I had a first gen iPhone before so now the bill is more.
