iphone not being recognised...

hi all, hopefully you can help me.

i have an iphone 3gs which has always synced nicely with my imac (intel i3) which is running 10.6.6 and made my life easy,

however

i bought an iphone dock speaker thingy and since using it once my phone will not charge from the wall or be recognised by my imac. Strangely however the phone still operates through the speakers as normal but won't charge on it.

my battery is draining and i keep my phone of for the time being to see if i can find a fix but software updates and phone resets so far have yeilded nothing

Could be, that you damaged the dock connector on your phone, when you plugged it into the speaker thingy.
