ebay ipod fixed

1. switch the mute switch 4 times (up, down, up down)
2. now press home and power for 6-10 seconds
3. wait 30 seconds and turn back on

This should fix it.

Yea iphone wouldnt charge at computer or from charger in wall just blank screen. its only new and just after comming out of the box, bought over ebay after girlfriend telling saying "you'll be sorry! You should have went to the shop to make sure it was 100%", but the 3 steps seem to have worked am so happy it sounds so strange but worked for me!
God bless Forums!!

thankyou loolool really in a panic there!!!

I have this same problem with my family member's 3GS. it charges if you plug your USB 30 pin with a computer but doesn't work sometimes when using the AC adapter. Right now its charging but sometimes it doesn't. It was actually my fault I was trying to get a tight incase slider off, which somehow messed up it's charging ability. It never had that problem before till that stupid incident.

IPhone not charging

I have a car charger and wasn't working either. I tried the soft reset and it worked, thanks to all here

I can't believe this worked.

I was having this problem since yesterday. My Iphone 3GS was charging extremely slowly like 10% in 2 hours.
I did reboot the phone many times. But after switching the mute switch 4 times and rebooting the phone It is working fine now.

Thanks a tonne.........:):)

I searched the web and found this thread: http://willy.boerland.com/myblog/iphone_not_charging_read_this
I tried it and it worked.
Make sure you switch the mute switch up, down, up and down; then hold power and home for about 10-15 seconds, the phone will shut down, continue to hold the home and power until the screen comes back with the apple logo.

I thought this was crazy also, but it worked for me !!

I am not sure if toggling the mute button was the trick or just waiting 30 seconds after shutting it down.

(I even registered just to post this).

strange !!

charging dilemmas

PLEASE help - I have an iphone 4 and the iphone charger stopped working (it kept making the sound that it was charging and flicking straight off all the time until it eventually didn't work at all) and so a phone man recommended a rocket fish charger - this now only works when the phone is in a certain position and I cannot move it whilst charging otherwise it flicks on and off and often stops charging, but the main problem is that when I connect it to my computer it will not charge or sync - I have tried turning it off and resetting it etc etc... and weirdly I can tell that the cable works with the computer as when it is turned off and I plug it in, the phone turns on - but it will not be recognised by the computer anymore and even charging it regularly is an absolute pain and I am sure one day I will wake up to find it hasn't charged at all... does anyone have a solution to this?? Or even a recommendation for a more reliable type of charger/USB cable... it is driving me absolutely mad and I really need my phone to charge properly and sync, which I can't do at all at the moment.... any help greatly appreciated......

It sounds like your dock connector has a problem on the phone side of things.

Ive had my iphone 4 about a month now and have had no problems charging it from the mains power everyday! untill yesterday! I was sending an email via my iphone and the battery indicated i only had 20% battery remaining so i finished typing the email and left the iphone to send the email whilst i went upstairs to collect the charger when i came back downstairs the iphone had turned off and i have tried to charge it via mains power and via my laptop but no luck! :( the same charger will charge my ipod but not my iphone!?

Basically my iphone is showing no sign of life will not charge or turn on in any way!

Any solutions?

sabre you are a star

try doing a soft reset before you plug in the iphone, as instructed on the apple website.

hold the home button and the top on/off button together for 6 seconds. this will bring up the apple icon, do a soft reset.

this may clear up some of the charging issues. it worked for me.
It worked for me straight away.the battery was not charging and was fixed on 40% after I tried a one pound USB.I was very frustrated
Obviously it is related to non original cheap charger ..Do not try it
Thanks

I tried some suggestions in this thread.. but my phone will not charge.. it keeps powering on and off when I plug it into the wall or USB.

I dont think my phone is charging with the wall charger. The battery indicator does not change to the lightning icon. It works when I plug it into a computer though.

The wall charger is not defective though. I am able to use it to charge my iPod (with the iPod cable). I tried using the iPod cable with the iPhone and wall charger and still the battery indicator does not change into the lightning icon.

Where can the problem be? The cable and iPhone works since I can charge the phone using a PC. The wall charger works because I am able to charge my iPod with it.

I was having the same problem.. My cousin tried her charger and it worked fine.. I was able to charge by hooking to PC. Finally, this morning I thought I'd give it one more try prior taking the charger back to the store. Thats when I realized the USB cable was not fully engaged into the port of the AC Adapter. Once I pushed it all the way in it worked fine..

If you all take the chargers to the Apple Store and give them your serial off the phone, they will look it up to see if under warranty and they will replace the charger for a new one right there in the store. Sometimes, depending on the specialist you talk to, they will simply just go in the back and ask for a new charger. Specialist told me its a "surprise and delight" kinda thing.
