iphone not phoning

just happened today. i can phone a number and the other person's phone will ring but when they pick it up i cant here anything.
they can phone me but when i press answer same again - nothing, no sound nothing.

anyone else had this?

ok I've found out what the problem is. There was no sound out of the iPod either. But when I plug in the earphones everything is sounding sweet. So the iPhone thinks the earphones are connected when there not!!!!!

close the thread. After pulling the earphones in and out a few times I got it working.
