Just deleted over 800 images off my iPhone (750 being of very high quality - 4,000 pixels at their largest side), so I would imagine that would clear up quite a bit of space. Also removed some music.
Before I synced, I had only 951 MB free, and could not update my apps.
When I removed the data, iTunes showed that I had 2.7 GB free, so I synced.
iPhone still says 951 MB and will not update apps. WHAT?! And, all the changes were made...
