Hi I just purchased an electric shaver that needs to pair with my iPhone to access its app to set up the shaver. However my iPhone 16PM can only pair my watch. It cannot find the shaver. This seems to be a known problem in Apple discussion. Has anyone solved this problem? According to Apple discussion, contributors say it has been going on for several months. Thanks.

what does the user manual say about putting the shaver into pairing mode?

and you have no other BT device, eg AirPods?
The shaver manual says nothing. I could to Phillips tech. They were not able to help. I spoke to Apple no help either. I don’t use AirPods. I have the AirPods Max that I have not used for ages. I have an Apple Watch that Bluetooth detects.

The other odd thing is that the shaver generates a pair code but there is no place to enter it on my iPhone. The code does not show up on my iPhone screen at all.

so when the shaver shows the pair code you are in settings/bluetooth and the shaver doesn't show up? does the AW show?

I would test your AirPods Max to see if you can connect those via BT. It is very odd that your AW connects but no other device ... Do you have a car with BT?

When I am in settings/bluetooth the shaver does not show up. My husband drives and he does not have issues with BT. The AirPod Max shows up in the BT section as NOT CONNECTED. I have not used them in months.

ok, so the phone does actually handle more than 1 BT connection, so it certainly looks that the problem is with the razor.
For the manufacturer not providing necessary info is not ok, personally, I'd return the product.

One other though, they do have an app for it right? is there anything in the app about BT setup or connecting to the phone? I think my current blood pressure device uses a proprietary connection, not BT

When I turn on the shaver and have the phone nearby, the app asks me to choose a shaver. Then it asks me if I want to pair and connect. When I accept, it says connecting but can never find the shaver. It gives up. Nothing ever appears in the iPhone’s BT section.

ok, sorry, out of my wits here ... I'd return it to the store

when I google "setting up Norelco I9000 Prestige Ultra" there are some YT and other links - have you looked at that?

Good suggestion. Thanks

Well that’s helpful how? Good for you that you haven’t had BT issues with a device that hasn’t even been available for a year yet.
OP does, and he mentions other online discussions so clearly there are people having issues, maybe not with the same device you personally have, but that’s not related anyway.

Some BT devices won't show in your iPhone's settings menu, but need to be paired in the app. Is there a way to pair the shaver in the app?

The shaver gives me a pair code. The app asks me if I want to accept and connect. I say yes. The app then searches for the shaver. Can’t find it. Then gives up. Apple and Norelco are at a loss.

Maybe this particular shaver's Bluetooth is broken.

If you have a Mac, its Bluetooth menubar-item can probably scan for BT devices, run BT diagnostics, etc. To bring up the diagnostic options, hold the Option key on keyboard and click the BT menubar-item. BT Setup might also let you see whether the shaver even appears as a BT device.

I have an iMac. Will your suggestions work ?

i have had issues in the past like this with some devices.
it seems to me that some companies write their pairing sequences and pairing instructions really well, and some other companies dont write the pairing sequence well.

anyway, in 100% of the situations so far where i haven't been able to set up pairing, i needed to do the following:
- delete the device that is having a problem in the iPhone bluetooth screen.
- restart your iPhone
- reread the directions in your device's manual and follow them precisely
- if the pairing doesn't work this time, then delete the failed pairing device agin, and then delete the iPhone app entirely. and restart your iPhone
- re-download the app to iPhone and attempt to pair again.
it has always worked for me if i do the following.

often you have to put devices like this in some sort of pairing mode. try holding down a button on the razor until some light blinks or turns blue - as soon as the device pops up in the iphones bluetooth settings below known devices, you should be able to pair it. (maybe wait a few seconds or try switching bluetooth off and on again). Btw., did you grant the app rights to use bluetooth (or „detect nearby devices in your network“). if not, you can usually change this in the iphone privacy settings - but as long as it doesn‘t show up in the iphone‘s bluetooth settings, it also won‘t be seen by any app.
