I am happy if it stays on O2!

If it was between VF and Orange then it's VF all the way, but I would still prefer O2 to keep the iPhone.

O2 to lose exclusivity

Hi
Ive been with orange for years I have a first generation iphone which I bought of internet jailbroken . I decided that I wanted the new Iphone 3G S I called orange retentions to get Pac code and as expected I was asked why iI was leaving after being with them for so long , I explained that like any normal person I wanted to change my phone and I wanted the new iphone 3GS as mine is over two years old and now it seems the only way to get one would be to either change carrier or buy another one as before from internet. The guy was quite helpful he said that if i could wait a few more months then I could get it with other carriers as O2 are pushing to sell the iphone 3GS very quickly as they will be losing the exclusivity rights very soon.
Now im not sure as to how soon or if it is just a rumour , but I have also earlier this year been into orange shop and asked staff about supplying iphone 3G and they also have said to wait a few months.
Lets hope its true and the iphone3GS will be open to all networks .

there's 2 possibilities here as far as i'm concerned....

1. he's telling the truth. it's been mentioned that apple may take up an option in the contract with o2 that says they can give the iphone to other carriers after 2 years. they'd still have to provide to o2 but not exclusively. there is no proof of this though, just rumours.

2. the bloke at orange is a typical orange employee who knows nothing, pretends to know everything and if he hasn't got an answer to keep you tied to orange he makes something up and lies through his teeth.

2 holds more water for me at the moment.

When I cancelled my Orange contract two weeks ago (so I could move to 02), they told me Orange (and all UK networks) are getting the iPhone in Q4 2009.

He said "It's going through marketing at the moment, so we don't as yet have any prices, plan details etc, but it will be out later this year".

An Orange person told me that over the phone.

must be true then

The day Orange get the iPhone is the day i cease to be an iPhone customer. I just do not like the network same with Vodafone, they brand their phones waay too much and lock them down tight. Orange coverage isn't great where i live either
