OMG - Multilevel marketing comes to the iPhone!

SWEET! Where's the Amway app? :D

So does that mean that we will be able to transfer the game to the other iPhone/Touch or would they still have to download it from the app store. Some games are huge and can’t be downloaded over 3G.

So your telling me apple is implementing a ZUNE feature into their lineup?
wow apple at it again revolutionizing the industry one idea at a time.

While it possible may end up doing the same thing as the Zune, it will likely do it in a totally "Apple" way. I don't have the info at hand, but for the Zune to temporarily share a song, the user needs to execute a series of non-intuitive steps, the likes of which most Zunners cannot memorize.

Nintendo DS "Download Play"

I'd love something like the Nintendo DS' "Download Play".
Wanna play with a friend, but he doesnt have the game? No problem! Just let him download it from your device and play against each other :D

Yeah... maybe they could make it so the App is only installed temporarily for 24 hours or something. If they like it after the 24 hour period, they can choose to buy the entire game and play whenever they want with whoever they want.

Bluetooth Address Book Syncing

F/W 3.0 is a fantastic (and well overdue) update. However, I wish Apple would address the inconsistent syncing of the iPhone's contacts with certain car manufacturers. It isn't the manufacturers issue per se as the device itself needs to "push" the contacts to the Bluetooth device in the vehicle. Most Bluetooth capable smart phones push the information to the navigation system, but the iPhone simply sits there waiting for the receiving device to grab the information. It's a pain in the butt, especially when the user needs to enter in hundreds of contacts into their vehicles data center.

Sweet!

But will it be like NDS where one person can host the game for everyone? Or will everyone have to be in some Connect-To-Players-Limbo waiting for people to offer them invites?

Hopefully push notifications will work like text messages for game invites when you can detect local iPhone/iTouches.

I do see one problem with this though. I very very very seldom use bluetooth as it sucks battery power, it seems.

Mine is always off. They will need to make a way for you to accept notifications and then turn on bluetooth automatically to set it all up.

meh.. they'll figure it out.

Yeah.
Apple has needed to add a similar final feature to their Bluetooth implementation since 1.0.
Their problem is the bluetooth chip's low-power listening mode. It's meant for listening for paired devices (only activating the full radio when it detects one).
But the iPhone is always searching, even when there are no paired devices. Unfortunately, this means it's just draining the battery of users who don't intend to use it and don't know enough (or how to) turn BT off.

What Apple SHOULD have done in their implementation of their OS (especially since this is a mobile device with a limited battery life), is have the iPhone automatically turn the radio totally off if the user leaves the settings menu with no devices paired at all. (The case where the user isn't trying to use BT to search&pair, and the radio doesn't need to be looking for devices either (no devices paired).

Hopefully Apple will be smarter about this in OS3.0

But if you have paired devices, and intend to use them (without wanting to manually turn the radio on/off) then you're SOL. It's a fact of life for bluetooth.
Otherwise it'd be a catch-22. Like saying you don't want to set up your curb-side mailbox until someone reaches out to open it to deliver a letter.

I dont have much I would use this but it would be cool to be able to send someone a song that they could listen to afew times.

I agree. I miss SendSong soo much from the jailbreak days. I had a home recording studio and used it to send mixes around.

If it is legal on a computer to send unprotected songs why can't it be done on a phone?

I hope this is nothing like 'squirting.'

Puh-lease:

Not Really

It sounds exactly like squirting. And the sad part is, the same people that b****ed about Microsoft letting users share songs are going to be praising Apple for doing it, like it's the second coming, simply because they cannot see beyong Apple = Good, Microsoft = bad/greedy.

Not Really, Its gone both ways. When the GUI was first developed by Xerox. It wasn't taken seriously by Xerox or IBM. When Apple got real interested in developing such a wonderful thing, they were called a toy by even LINUX users.

What was a real kick in the nuts is that when Microsoft decided to include a GUI. IT WAS BETTER THAN SLICED BREAD!!! Think about... Just think about it Ohh Ohhhhhh... (FOTC)

Now whats bigger, a GUI or sharing Music??? :D

On a more serious note the point of technology is to IMPROVE what we ALREADY know. OMFG, Vista copied Mac OSX!!!! QMFFQB!!?!?!?!1!!!111!$@#. Except, Vista is an exception to the above meaning. ;-)

A few suggestiosn

1. Let shared apps have a set expiration time (1 day, 1 week, etc.);
2. Track who shares--let devs know which users share their apps that effectively (or not) lead to "sales; Maybe even getting a cut of the action?"
3. Let sharing be done only in "proximity"--no e-mailed sharing, etc. You need to be next to the person--this cuts down on "unwanted" Sharing SPAM; and
4. Create a setting to disable sharing if someone doesn't want to get requests--or potential "open doors" for unforeseen attacks...

The sharing feature was a great feature of the old Treo 650... Ah those good ole days...

okay.. new iphone comes out...

Its gonna be sweet.

Maybe like an ultimate feature packed iphone we will call this one (15" umb)

And apple is gonna leave something REALLY stupid out on a slightly lesser one too piss us all off that dont go all out. We will call that one (13"umb..missing firewire..someone email steve jobs.. lets talk about it for a year on the intrnet)..Iphone of course..

Agreed.
I own ~200 apps. Not only can I not fit them all on my iPhone 3G, I wouldn't want to. Thus, there have been enough times I have been away from my Mac and wanted/needed an app that I owned but wasn't sync'd to my iPhone, that I could simply redownload and keep moving. Loosing that ability is a real bummer. I hate when Apple removes features in an update. More like a downdate.

I'll actually be pissed if they take away this feature with out some means of getting lost Apps back. I don't know how many times I have downloaded an app to my phone and then after syncing to my Mac, look for the App a day or two later to find it was gone. Seems to only be consistently permanent when I download to my Mac 1st. Taking away the ability to redownload for free kills my ability/desire to download directly to my phone. I'd be afraid to even try.
