IPhone packaging leak

A Weibo leaker posted a series of images earlier this month which included the packaging for the new iPhone – which, if true, would pretty much confirm the likely names I had predicted for this series of phones – iPhone X, iPhone X Plus, and iPhone X Edition

We all knew it wasn't going to be 7S, 7S Plus, and 8, I imagine :)

Yeah. I imagine you continue to add $100 for the Plus and then $200 for the Edition, but who knows.

Apple wouldn't do both "X" and "Edition." It's one or the other. iPhone X, or iPhone Edition.

Can someone fill me in on why so many think it'll be "Edition," why that makes any real sense, and why that implies a higher price than 8/X/etc.?

The top-tier Apple Watch model is called the “Edition,” and it’s three times the price of the entry level watch. They’re pulling the name from that product line.

There’s a market for extremely expensive watches (always has been) and Apple was likely trying to hook into that market. Given the fact that the AW is an item that’ll be needing an upgrade every few years, I never quite understood the marketing angle there-unless you’ve got money to burn. They aren’t timepieces to be passed on to your grandkids . (I know they aren’t *that* expensive, but still...)

Applying this same pricing structure and the moniker of “Edition” to the phone would be an odd thing. But, who knows?

I do think the pic is a fake, though. As was mentioned above, the font just isn’t right.

What if there is no "6sss" and "6sss Plus"? Only X, X Plus (IPS diplay, glass back) and X Edition (OLED display, ceramic back)...

At least I don't saw many leaks of the phone what is always called 7s (Plus) and it would be the fourth iteration of the 6's form factor. A complete redesign for everything on the tenth anniversary would make sense.
 
Look so Fake ... blurry and not realistic

and apple wont use X insted of Pro or Air or Plus

This has been posted here before. It was a bad fake then, as it is now. The typography is sloppy and wrong and the perspective on the typography is also incorrect and unrealistic.
I used Photoshop to correct the perspective on the side of the box, and the errors become very obvious.

No, the $10,000 Apple Watch did NOT make a huge impression. Why? Because it's a piece of outdated tech (Gen 1 internals) with a gold casing that doesn't appeal to the masses at that price point. The Apple Watch Edition was for an elitist who had a lot of money to drop strictly for the Gold casing, the WatchOS experience was the same for everyone. Furthermore, the Apple Gold Edition was not even available in most Apple Stores, only select Stores.

Apple wanted to retain the Edition name, but at a much more affordable rate, but still offering a unique Ceramic casing to separate it from the aluminum and stainless models. It's a much better business practice and offers three model tiers to offer from.
