i have had my old iPhone 6 in the drawer for a year now and have been saving it until I could find time to have all the data backed up. Well finally got around to it tonight and can't remember the password. I thought I could use my fingerprint but it's requiring a password. If I don't have this backed up to any computer or the iCloud, am I totally screwed? I have attempted an incorrect password 7 tries already. Feeling defeated

No one can help you if you’ve forgot your passcode.

If you know your iCloud passcode you can do a dfu restore and wipe the phone. It’ll ask for that password on boot.
