iPhone - Phone and Internet Question

Hello all, I'm new to Macrumors.

My husband and I, who are both considering iPhones, were wondering if on AT&T can you be on a call and use the internet on EDGE(sp?)?

No, Edge doesn't support simultaneous voice and data. You need a 3G connection for that.

Also, EDGE + Wifi will do what you want since it's connected to 2 sources at once.

But basically the above post is the answer you're looking for. Only 3G offers both voice and data on a single connection.
