Hi, new here and just checking my sanity ahead of the next iPhone launch... Not trying to stir controversy, just looking for input.

My 3GS on AT&T has been a wonderful gadget for work and fun except for the actual phone. I have to switch 3G off and use Edge in the car to keep from dropping calls, etc. And this isn't a carrier issue.

I'm sure my experience is worse than most, but I also heard complaints about the 4G - great gadget, mediocre phone.

I need to replace my phone, but I am wary of buying another iPhone since my need for a good connection outweighs the rest. Are my experiences just plain bad luck or should I get a dumb phone and use my iPad for the rest?

Thanks for any insight...
