Southern California wildfires at around 4:00PM. I live in Valencia/Santa Clarita, so the pics here are of the "Sylmar Fire" for those of you keeping up with that news. They have intensified since I took these FYI.

I live in Irvine, and I saw the Anaheim Hills fire from a safe distance, on our hill. It's such a shame. I have many friends that had to be evacuated. I didn't take any pics with my iPhone because I've seen over ten fires since I've lived in Orange County, I'm sure I'll see ten more in my life, and I don't consider it anything "beautiful" anyways. A news reporter on television said it looked beautiful, and I wanted to call the station and say "what the f__k kind of sicko are you?!!! People are losing their homes and the everything they have from their whole lives. And you think it's beautiful? What the ___ is wrong with you?"

News reporters can say and do some really stupid things. A different reporter, on television tonight, was on a cell phone with the TV station and she was literally inside the fire saying "OMG! It's surrounding our van. Go, go, go! OMG!" Yet, I got the perception that she wouldn't have hung up the cell phone if her life had depended on it ... and in many ways I think we saw that firsthand. A different reporter had to be hospitalized for not leaving herself an escape route, getting caught in the fire, and then she had to be sent to the hospital in an ambulance. I wonder how much money and resources are spent every year rushing news reporters to hospitals.

Yeah I agree that reporters can be pretty stupid. I also don't consider the fires to be special or beautiful at all, but this was the first close one we've had since I got my iPhone. Last year we had that HUGE one that burned for over a month and a half in Canyon Country and one that started in Stevenson Ranch, which is really close to residential neighborhoods, and a few of my friends' homes were burned down, so it is a very serious thing.

Thankfully, the wind shifted and the fires, while still pretty close, are not threatening anyone here in Valencia although they have gotten more intense. I think there may be another one because we can see 3 plumes of smoke coming from Sylmar, the Newhall Pass, and one in a westwardly direction that I don't think has been dealt with at all. Thankfully my family lives in the centre of the Santa Clarita valley, so we are not that close.

Anaheim Hills fire in So. Cal

My wife was caught on the 91 fwy. during Saturday's Anaheim Hills fire. She said the flames came down to the freeway's roadside, ultimately closing the road. She was scared. Here's her iPhone picture of the flames on a ridge that ultimately came down toward her position.

At the Twilight premiere, about 20 minutes ago in Westwood Village, Los Angeles, CA.

I've never seen so many screaming teeny-boppers dressed in black in one place at the same time in my life! A lot of these girls were lined up since early in the morning to be able to stand by the red carpet to see the stars of the movie and/or get in to see the movie at one of the two theaters (The Bruin and The Fox) that are across the street from each other.

Just another day in the village......

Do you mean the Beverly Center? I was there on Sunday....

Beverly Glen is a street between Westwood and Beverly Hills.

LA is a fun town.

yep, thats the place. about four days a week I go.

And every sunday I go to Santa Monica Beach, and always chill where all the crosses are in the sand.
