Southern California wildfires at around 4:00PM. I live in Valencia/Santa Clarita, so the pics here are of the "Sylmar Fire" for those of you keeping up with that news. They have intensified since I took these FYI.
I live in Irvine, and I saw the Anaheim Hills fire from a safe distance, on our hill. It's such a shame. I have many friends that had to be evacuated. I didn't take any pics with my iPhone because I've seen over ten fires since I've lived in Orange County, I'm sure I'll see ten more in my life, and I don't consider it anything "beautiful" anyways. A news reporter on television said it looked beautiful, and I wanted to call the station and say "what the f__k kind of sicko are you?!!! People are losing their homes and the everything they have from their whole lives. And you think it's beautiful? What the ___ is wrong with you?"
News reporters can say and do some really stupid things. A different reporter, on television tonight, was on a cell phone with the TV station and she was literally inside the fire saying "OMG! It's surrounding our van. Go, go, go! OMG!" Yet, I got the perception that she wouldn't have hung up the cell phone if her life had depended on it ... and in many ways I think we saw that firsthand. A different reporter had to be hospitalized for not leaving herself an escape route, getting caught in the fire, and then she had to be sent to the hospital in an ambulance. I wonder how much money and resources are spent every year rushing news reporters to hospitals.
