They are still EXTREMELY popular.

It's just that Android is starting to come out with some really comparable phones. A couple of years ago there really wasn't all that much competition. Now there is with the SGS3, Note2, HTC X, Droid DNA, Nokia Lumia and even other cheaper phones that are pretty nice as well.

For really only having one model out at a time, it's almost amazing how Apple keeps selling millions and millions of iPhones.

I know my niece got an iPhone 4 for X-mas and she was excited beyond belief. And she's an 8th grader.

And out in public I still see more iPhones than I do other phones. But there's just a ton of variety now.

Its very much popular, I remember Steve saying that he would be happy with 1%, and I believe they sit at around 20%, popular beyond his wildest dreams.

I think the fact Apple release very few phones has kept them popular. As much as people hate it they are still considered a high end brand and with that comes desire from consumers. Not everyone is bothered about techy specs and how big their phone looks in their pocket. The iPhone is still interesting and is still selling more than expectation.

:p

I haven't seen a blackberry in ages. I don't hang out at high schools to check but the young people where I live use iPhones. Seems about 80% of the phones I see are iPhones.

I know walking around campus I notice a lot of iPhone 4(s)'s and not so many iPhone 5's. iPhone 5's seems actually pretty rare right now.

At one time, I knew 3-4 people who had iPhones, now everyone I know has moved on to Androids. I use to work with 2-3 people who had iPhones and sold them over the past year to get an Android.

Myself, I have recently purchased an Android, a Nexus 4 and a Nexus 7. I still have a 4S that I used my AT&T upgrade to get in January but once that contract is out, I'll likely cancel AT&T and move over to T-Mobile where my Nexus 4 and 7 are and get another Android. After owning every iPhone model except for the 5, I think it's time to move on.

I don't know anyone who owns an Apple product now besides myself.
I have the complete apposite. most of the people I interact with (friends- family) have switched to iphone from android.

I think by young people, were referring to under 18s.

I've just turned 18 this year. I've owned the iPhone 4, iPhone 4S and I now have the iPhone 5 (And before anyone comes along and says I'm spoilt, I have a job and I pay for my own Apple products).

The majority of students at my college are also iPhone users and so are the majority of the people I work with. The iPhone is just as popular (even more so) as it always has been, the market is just larger now.
