First iPhone was $599 and a two year contract.

I would be surprised if Apple was still in a top position in ten years.

Most tech companies peak around ten years and then innovation drops.

No it wasn't, it was $500 or $600 and required a 2 year contract. Most iPhones after that were $0-$200 on 2 year contracts.

I also feel that Apple is now pricing their iPhones like a computer like it is.
Without shopping, I'm pretty sure you can get a MacBook for about 1000 as well as a iMac for around 1200.
These are their lower end models, but I'm sure you get the idea.
