I was wondering if people had useful iPhone Pro photography tips and tricks to share, things which would be obvious to an experienced photographer but which us amateurs might not know.

For example…

1) I have heard that it helps to make portrait photos with the telefoto lens on the iPhone 13 Pro, because it’s focal length is the same as a standard portrait fotographer’s lens.

2) If you take action shots of people with the Live feature enabled, you can often adjust the exact pose and facial expression afterwards by resetting the foto’s keyframe.

My wife just ordered a book from Amazon for the iPhone 13 Pro. The title is, "iPhone 13 Pro Max Camera Mastering," but we will have to wait for it before deciding its worth.

The big problem I have with the iPhone cameras is smudging on the lenses and flair. If you are near a light source it's hard to get a clean shot.

Here is a nice "youtube" video about the iPhone 13 Pro cameras:

I watched it, he goes at quite a pace through all the options in the camera app, which is fine, and he also covers some tips like using the wide angle lens when walking or running outdoors to give a more “action“ like feel, he compares it to something similar to a Go Pro.

I enjoy hitting up strangers on the street for a portrait or two and have made many with various iPhones over the years. Just have to remember not getting too close with a wide-ish focal length lens (depending on iPhone and lens-choices available), otherwise noses and hands start looking huge.

Most of the time I like decent environmental context with my portraits and something in the 30-35mm (equiv) works good for me (if not too close). For an in your face portrait 50 to 70mm would be much better. I made the photo below with a 5S or 6+ - just don't remember.
