In what way? Can’t see how the newer models would be inferior to a two-year-old device...

The Xs Max, Max Pro along with the iPhone pro and pro max have worse antennas than the X. In areas of weak signals, the X hangs on to the signal. My old Xs Max and now my 11 pro, lose the signal in the same spot. It's a known issue. @WiWavelength has proven this is issue.

I have had Plus models in the past and not liked the size, I don't have small hands I just really prefer one handed use.

Both phones are vastly superior compared the X, something else is going on here.
They are not when it compares to reception.

Must be a US thing, had absolutely no issues with signal with any of my iPhones.

read his posts. He is an engineer who researches antenna design. He was called a crack pot last year when he said the Xs and XS Max would have reception issues in areas with weak signals. The antenna gains were far worse than previous models, and he was proved right. The guy is a genius.

But that’s just one aspect of the device. You can’t say the new models are all round worse than the X because of signal issues.

I’ve not had any issues with my 11 Pro’s antenna.

This is what people dont understand. For example. The worse the gain, the worse the reception in weak areas. The Pro has an antenna gain of -2 to -6 db worse than the X. So lets say 1 bar on an X is -110 db, and the Pro would be -112 to -116 db. The X would remain locked on, while the Pro would lose that connection. You dont notice the difference until you are in a weak area. The last 2 years, the iPhone has got worse when it comes to weak signals.

I've used Max size phones ever since "phablets" were new, but now that it's time to upgrade from my 7 Plus I've actually decided to downsize to a 11 Pro. I'm just tired of the weight, having to always two hand it, and too much pocket bulge in the summer. I'll reconsider if they manage to lose the notch though, because I'd consider the weight justified if I could have a video image fill the entire front area.

He seems to be US based so my point still stands, not heard this complaint in the UK or anywhere else.

It has been reported elsewhere with last year’s models. The 11’s have the same antenna design as last year. There are lots of threads about poor reception of last years models from around the world, including the UK.

I think the point was that regardless the specifics and severity of these signal issues, they alone probably do not make the X an all-round better phone than the Pro.

Again, you can’t make a sweeping generalisation that the 11 Pro is worse than the X just because of poor reception. You have to take other things into consideration, such as battery life, cameras, performance.

Hit the nail on the head.

I prefer the most portable form. When i work i carry my phone on my jacket's pocket.
At the end it depends on every one's taste.
I hate watching movies on a 6.5 display i want bigger so for watching films i prefer my ipad.
This time i really wanted to like the Pro max. I tried on the store, but is "too cumbersome" for me, working with 1 hand is not possible for me and is risky (can drop).
As an iphone i prefer thousands times the 11 pro over the Pro max!
But again, is all about your taste and how you feel more comfortable.
