I have an Iphone 3gs now out of the 12 month warranty and for no reason lots of various issues have started to effect the phone.

The sound has stopped working, sometimes it crackles and may work slightly but most of the time I have no sound at all. This effects both the loud speaker and the speaker ontop of the phone so i cannot hear people on calls, they also cannot hear me but sometimes it decides to start working again but this is very rare!

The phone also now has a tendancy to crash alot and the lock button will stop working. I either have to do a reset by holding both the lock and home button or sometimes tapping the phone a few times makes it work again :/

If any one knows a solution to these problems let me know cause my phone is kinda useless atm all i can do is text!

Right up until you said tapping the phone sometimes helps, i thought this may have been a software problem. However, the fact that tapping it sometimes fixes the problem, points to a hardware problem that will require dismantling the phone.

Before you do that, tho, it's worthwhile restoring the phone back to factory settings and reinstalling the latest OS update again (you can do all of this through iTunes).

If the issue persists in the same way after you have restored, etc., then you have a hardware issue - and so maybe a visit to your nearest Genius bar Would be in order...

RTP.
