Funny. It was only a few days ago the fanbois on here were saying 'Not Apple, not my problem!'. Well, that aged like milk.

Hopefully the entire OLED supply chain comes to a stop — and the iPhone returns to LCD. Can't wait for OLED tech to become extinct forever.
What are everyone’s thoughts on this idea...they skip an entire year and the 2022 iPhone has two years worth of updated specs?
There are many categories of consumer items that are updated yearly (cars, appliances, TVs, to name a few). Some aren't and are updated when the company releases and update. As far as iphones go, yearly models are their part of their consumer strategy.I think the world need to rely less on jusr few companies to run their lives...
Why? I thought OLED was the superior display tech?
yeah...no. You see there is nothing really you can add year over year to make the computer or phone a new "model". The yearly model refresh cycle is crazy. Now people are addicted to it and need their "fix", and the iphone dealer won't miss selling a batch of new iphones even if it meant it has only different size notch and different colour.
What you say is logical, but logic and business do not work together. SELL SELL SELL, CONSUME CONSUME CONSUME!
Samsung has been struggling for years with the declining sales, but they still make a great device. The ‘Note’ in my opinion, it’s just too large and isn’t really all that much different from the standard Galaxy series aside from the S-pen. Smart phones have matured so fast over the years, that they don’t really need an annual release, but of course generating revenue is a totally different spectrum for ‘Big tech’.Seems like production capacity and supply chain management has taken a nose-dive in the tech manufacturing world. Maybe that Samsung announcing the cancellation of the Note series is the tip of the iceberg. (At least they were honest)

I'm pretty sure all the iPhone 12 Minis that are ever going to be made are already made. They'll have plenty of chips if they axe the iPhone 12 mini.
In my own opinion, the updates to each iphone model over the years were more than a refresh. There have been some substantial functional updates that were part of the yearly release.they follow the same strategy, they change a simple thing and then call it "the new model" to make it attractive. Back then Apple updated computers silently. When there was a real new model like original iMac to flat screen iMac or flat screen iMac to all-in-one iMac they made an announcement and there was years apart.
Said no one ever.Hopefully the entire OLED supply chain comes to a stop — and the iPhone returns to LCD. Can't wait for OLED tech to become extinct forever.
