I saw the iPhone today and was quite impressed, but I note no one has addressed one very important feature. Can programs not in ROM be added, as they can, say, to the Palm Treo? For example, a program to read ebooks would be useful to many, especially if it would allow one to read palm ebooks. If the device could run non-Apple programs, one could envision a huge number of games, etc. etc., and that would make it much more usable and attractive. It is supposed to be a "computer," so people should be able to write programs for it -- but I couldn't figure out whether that is possible from the presentation.
