I really hope Apple brings a ProMotion Display to the iPhones next year. If they do it in traditional Apple fashion, it'll take longer, but it'll be worth the wait. I wonder if they could use the Apple Watch LTPO technology to drastically save battery life. Imagine if the refresh rate could change from 120HZ motion while scrolling to 1HZ while the screen is static on text. The displays would be much smoother but also more efficient.

This is really just a thread for me throwing at ideas and hopes and dreams, but I really do hope Apple gets the message and has been working on this.

I don't think Apple should be reaching for 120hz yet, I think 90hz would be the logical first step, as that is where most of the mobile market s currently, you don't wanna sabotage all the battery life you got back with the new 11 series by jumping into 120hz refresh rate.

The iPad already does this (it can go all the way from 24 Hz to 120 Hz) - I just don’t think Apple has found a way to do this in a way that’s battery-efficient just yet. When they do, we’ll have it.

I don't think the issue is the battery - it's not easy to make 120Hz on an OLED display. We have no idea how much Apple has progressed with this so we only have to wait to hear more about the refresh rate on the iPhone 12.

Honestly I don’t want to take a hit to battery life at all. I know I’m in the minority but 90-120hz displays is Not a must have feature for me. I just care that everything works reliably. If Apple has to put it there for competitive Purposes I hope they include a toggle to turn it off

I think we reached 'reliable' with the iPhone 5?

I think promotion is something Apple is gonna hold back for an S update.

I can’t see them adding so many features to a redesigned iPhone.
