iPhone release date?

When do you think the iPhone will be released? I chose fridays because the previous two iphones were released on a friday. Also, not I did not choose June 19th because I believe one week is too short after WWDC.
 
I've heard about two rumors that said July 17th would be the release date. I haven't heard any rumors about any other date. Now, the rumors could be false but if I had to guess I'd go with Friday, July 17th.
 
Why would Apple go a whole month without selling iPhones? I doesn't make since to me.

There were no real smart phones to compete with last year. I know the Pre is not popular here but they will put a dent in sales to first time smart phone buyers. I just can't believe Apple and AT&T would stand by and watch this take place for a month with no device to sale.
 
last year apple could afford to go a month without selling iphones because the iphone was worth waiting for. now they have to compete with other phones and a month with out sales is a month where they lose so many sales.
