My Iphone 6S plus had an issue with the screen ( dead pixels)

I took it into Apple store today for a repair and the genuis bar ran a diagnostic test on my phone.

There were 2 issues that came up, one that my phone wasnt up to date still on ios 9.3 and 2nd my phone hasnt been backed up for 2 weeks.

Anyway the issues above are irrelevant to my issue. So i asked for a screen replace/ device replace depending on what they could do.

As the genuis tried booking it in there was a message on her screen saying send to depot. Meaning they have to send it off rather than a store exchange/repair. She tried again and same message.

I got a loan phone basically a normal iPhone 6. Anyone had this before? I mean why would it say return to depot. Also how long does it take and how will i know my phones back.

Reason im desperate for it back i need to send it off to sell so i can use the funds towards an iPhone 7. I was really hoping they could sort it today so i could have sent it off.

Cheers
